A vast desert covering much of the known world. Due to frequent seismic activity and strong winds, the Waste is constantly in a state of flux. In many places, the chaotic arcane energies have combined with constant seismic shifting to create sand seas. These areas make navigation extremely difficult, and the only safe means of traversing it is by Typhoon. To make navigation even more imposing, the sand seas tend to wander. As the arcane energies wax and wane, the sand seas move with the flow. One sea doesn’t shift however; named Nayru’s Maw.
Most travel among the Waste only along the Leviathan routes, though travel by Ifriti is becoming more common. The desert is less expansive between the cities, which aids in travel. The Waste takes on more of a badlands nature in side the ring of cities. This stable ground is still scarred by The Perishing, however, it is here that traces of life can still be seen. Ruins dot the landscape, tempting many Redeemers. Outside the ring of cities though, the shifting sands is all that greets a traveler.
Many brave, albeit foolish, Redeemers have made ventures into the Waste, many have never returned. Some seek riches, some seek glory, others seek a way to restore the world. The Waste holds many such treasures. It is just waiting for the right being to uncover them…and get out alive.
